Worlds 2026 Play-In reached 1,021,367 peak concurrent viewers, with Karmine Corp against Cloud9 drawing the stage’s largest audience. The figures released on October 19 cover the opening phase played from October 15 to 18.

Two metrics tell different stories

The peak was down approximately 59.2% from 2025, while total viewing time rose to around 14.8 million hours — roughly double last year. These measures answer different questions: peak viewers captures the largest simultaneous audience, whereas hours watched adds up viewing across the entire stage.

The format is central to the comparison. Last year’s Play-In was a single T1–Invictus Gaming series; this edition featured four teams and six series. More broadcast time creates more opportunities to accumulate viewing hours, so neither headline alone establishes whether interest in Worlds has grown or declined.

The opening series attracted a peak audience about 16% higher than KC’s deciding meeting with MVK. French-language peak viewership doubled year on year, with Kamet0 leading that language segment. English broadcasts accounted for over 36% of viewing hours, while 207 channels covered the stage, compared with 180 in 2025.

From a five-map opener to a place in Swiss

The most-watched series also became KC’s closest contest. Cloud9 moved ahead 2–1 before KC won the final two maps. The European side then swept MVK twice, finishing with a 9–2 map record and the only available Swiss Stage berth.

Cloud9’s campaign ended in the lower bracket against FURIA. MVK subsequently eliminated the Brazilian team before falling to KC in the final. Our complete Play-In recap covers all six series and the final standings.

The main event is the next test

Swiss begins on October 23, bringing the remaining field into action. These opening-stage numbers provide a baseline; they should not be treated as a verdict on the whole championship before the main event has started.
