Invictus Gaming is back in the Worlds quarterfinals for the first time since 2019. The LPL’s fourth seed defeated LYON 2–1 in the Swiss Round 4 series that began on October 28 in Allen, Texas.
IG finishes Swiss at 3–1 as the first Chinese team to qualify. LYON drops to 2–2 and must win one final best-of-three to advance.
JiaQi closes the decider
IG won the opener through repeated objective-fight victories, but Dhokla’s Olaf helped LYON take the second game and force a decider.
In Game 3, JiaQi’s Caitlyn became the central threat. LYON found picks on Rookie’s Orianna, yet IG’s lane pressure and map control kept the gold advantage growing. Mountain Soul and four unanswered kills near Baron gave IG the opening to finish.
Four quarterfinalists confirmed
IG joins T1, Gen.G and Dplus KIA in the Knockout Stage. LYON’s last Swiss opponent remains to be drawn after Round 4.
